Welcome to the Maizie Hauck Frey Local History Center

The Putnam County District Library holds a wealth of information for genealogical and local history research.  Our collection contains books, probate records, family files  Putnam County newspapers and much more!

The collection consists primarily of information on Putnam County and the surrounding counties (Defiance, Hancock, Henry, Paulding, Van Wert, and Wood).  Additionally, we have a small collection of information from many of Ohio's 88 counties.

One of our special Collections is the picture collection of Putnam County.  Currently, we have over 1500 pictures that are indexed and in photo albums available for viewing in the Local History Room.  If you would like to add copies of your pictures depicting Putnam County's past to our collection, please contact the Local History Room.  We are always interested in pictures of farming, industries, building projects, street views or anything related to Putnam County.  We appreciate the public's support of this important ongoing project.

The Local History Department will be open the same hours as the Ottawa Location. Staff will know how to use the microfilm machines but may not be trained in geanology), if you want to make sure the Local History Librarian will be there when you plan to visit please email her or call 419-523-3747 ext 211.
